How do you avoid leaving fingerprints on your polymer clay beads?
- Missy, MO
Your best bet is to wear latex (or non-latex if you have sensitivities) gloves. Many clay artists use them when working on final touches to smooth and prepare beads for baking.
Another option is to dip a cotton swab into alcohol and brush it lightly over the bead right before you're ready to bake the beads. This will get rid of any unwanted inclusions (dust specks or dirt) and at the same time smooth out any fingerprints. When working on a larger focal bead, take the time to do this prior to baking because it really helps to lessen the work needed to finish the bead after baking.
